Welcome aboard Andrea! Your father's memory and legacy are in the right place! He and I went in the same month and year! Where did he go to boot camp? There is a command here for the one he went to! Adding his info and yours about him may just bring up some old friends and shipmates that would like to know of his passing! Who knows! If was in San Diego, I may have met him myself!
