Father's Day; 2010

Posted on June 20, 2010 at 3:55pm 2 Comments

I know, I've been away from here for quite awhile and I apologize. My job keeps me very busy, working 11 to 12 hours a day, Monday thru Friday. It leaves me little time for anything except resting up, to do it all over again.

With today being Father's Day, I've been kind of somber, thinking about something that today should be said.

My job calls for me to deliver auto parts throughout the city, Kansas City, via a semi. Needless to say, I wind up in a few…

A December to Remember...........for me, especially.

At this time, everyone is gearing up for their own special celebrations. Dinners are planned, presents bought & wrapped in colorful paper & bows/ribbons, etc. Furniture is moved &/or stored, to make room for visitors. Trees even get their once over, to make sure that they give off that special holiday glow necessary for particular festivities. Christmas cards mailed, after the all important update of mailing lists. Yep, this time of year becomes a flurry of activity for many… Continue

I've already pointed out, that I suffer from an affliction, Lackofturkeyitis, that will be remedied today. Sadly, I remember previous Thanksgivings and can say truthfully, I am thankful to have survived those Thanksgiving day pasts and continue to drool.........oops, look forward to the next ones.

Many years ago, a girl that I was seeing, insisted on preparing our dinner. The poor gal had to read directions on how to boil water. But, I give her credit, she tried, bless her heart. Her… Continue

A Happy Veteran's Day............NOT!!!

Posted on November 11, 2009 at 10:03pm 1 Comment

I took my wife to dinner on Veteran's Day evening, to the Outback Restaurant on NE Choteau Trafficway, in Kansas City, Mo. Nothing special except to have dinner. We were informed that in celebration of Veteran's Day, ALL vets were to receive a "blooming onion" & either a soft drink or beer, free, as was advertised on TV. I was asked if I was a vet & responded that I was (having served in the USN for 10 1/2 years). Stipulation was, I had to prove it, being a vet no longer serving. Having… Continue

Okay, I know I shouldn't but I am going to make this post for Thanksgiving, now. I know, you're asking. "Why in the world is he making a post about a holiday that's still a couple of weeks away?" It's hard for me to say it out loud but..............dadburnit, I gots to say it.

I am suffering here, folks. Here is a list of some........SOME, of the symptoms:

1) Chills

2) My mouth goes from bone dry to almost drooling

3) Headaches

4) Quivering knees

5) Unsteady… Continue

Sorry.. I have been  searching for the name or the business where those portraits were

painted at NATTC. I had a portrait done there. I have looked for a while, but I can't even get a whisper in the right direction.  I'd like to surprise my wife If anyone can provide some input

I would appreciate it. I

Hey Dutch,

I was stationed NATTC in Millington,  attending AEA school during  1978-1979. I'm interested in your profile picture, maybe its oil and you got it in Millington?

Thanks Dutch. I'm finally able to get back online. Hope you and the fam had a good Thanksgiving and didn't over do it so much that you had to put on the sweats before you got into the pie.

"OMG. I just saw my plane on your pics. The EA-3B on the starboard side of the Saratoga. I was with VQ-2, out of Rota, 1979-81. Cool."

I was not lucky enough to be stationed in Rota as we always had some our Squadron stationed there during the cruise. That is o.k., I liked the ship and the experience. That is cool you saw memories in my pictures as I do the same thing when looking at images.
