Pennsylvania Navy Vets

I am sure Navy Veteran's originally from Pennsylvania are now living throughout the USA. Pennsylvania would be their home of record at time of entry into the US Navy.See More

Where were you or your family stationed?
Sister of two Navy Veterans, one US Marine Veteran. Was stationed in Newport, RI with my husband, US Navy Veteran in the late 60's. I do not feel comfortable on this site since I never served. I am looking for sailor's that served on USS Allagash (AO-97) or were stationed at Newport during 1968 - 1970. Made a lot of friends back then and wondered where they may be today! Thank you for allowing me on your site. Rebecca

Navy Duffle Bags!

Posted on December 9, 2007 at 11:14am 4 Comments

Unsure how to do this, but here goes.....all I ever heard when my husband was in the Navy stationed in Newport, RI was the following, "If the Navy wanted you to have a wife, they would have issued you one in your duffle bag!" Is that saying still around? What all is in those duffle bags anyways? I remember I was in quarantine in the base hospital in Newport. I had hepatitis. I remember wanting to just die. I was so sick & they never knew how I got it in the first place. I kept telling the… Continue

Just for reference some of the comments are correct sea bags are for the Navy. However being that I was a Corpsmen assigned to the Marine Corps we had duffle bags its what we use to transport our uniforms between duty stations just like the sea bag. That saying came from the Marine Corps not the Navy.

I don't know what is in a duffle bag. I had a sea bag and everything I owned fit in it.

Don't ever say you didn't serve. Navy wives serve every bit as much as their husbands.

Thanks Rebecca! I thought some of the ol' salts on here might be able to see better if I increased the fonts and left some more room. :)

A blog is more of a journal post where you'd like to tell or share a specific story. It's your journal and each post is like a chapter in the journal.

A discussion is more of a conversation - generally where you're looking for information or feedback. Hope that helps!

Be sure to join the Navy Wives command I set up!

New to all of this...what is the difference between a discussion & a blog? What is a blog if not a discussion? I am confused! Help....please!

I would be interested in finding out how I could buy a Navy Pea Coat...I remember the cold winds blowing off the coastline in New England & that was the warmest coat I ever owned. Through the years of moving , etc. it became misplaced. I miss my warm coat! It is 24 degree's & snowing in Western PA. I could sure use my Navy Pea coat about now!

Welcome Aboard, Rebecca! It's awesome to see a Navy Wife on board!!! It's the one job that's more challenging than being a sailor!
