USS Hickman County LST-825

USS Hickman County (LST-825) was an LST-542-class tank landing ship built for the United States Navy during World War II. Named after counties in Kentucky and Tennessee, she was the only U.S. Naval vessel to bear the name.

Reported aboard in June of 1966 in Subic Bay, Phillippines. After a change of command and much needed upkeep, left for Vietnam to spend the next 12 months there, mostly in the Mekong Delta.  Not one of the most pleasant times of my career.
