I was stationed on the Midway from 1985 - 1988. I spent time in V-2 Division Arresting Gear Chief , CPO mess caterer, and back to V-2 Division. I am looking for any V-2 Maintance Officer that was on any ship arround 1972 - 1975 and remembers using asbestos cloth in pouring sockets. I need someone to help me prove we used asbestos to the VA. I can be contacted at rhowell55@gmail.com. I would also like to hear from any old shipmates that remember me.

I was stationed on the USS Midway from Feb 1980-Jan of 1982. My first command once I left Intelligence Specialist "A" school. I worked in CVIC or OZ division. Great time and great shipmates.

My father, Bill Havens, was on the Midway from 1957 to 1959. He was Senior Chief Machinist's Mate until his appointment as a Warrent Officer in 1959.

I did 2 tours on the old Grey Lady, 57-60 & 62-63. It was the best ship I ever servedon. After over 48 years I still meet up with some of my old divison shipmates every year.

Who here remembers "Midway Magic", made numerous successful sorties over the "rio de caca" in Olongapo? What was your favorite inport? Who has liberty pictures that have stood the passage of time and spousal censorship/deletion?
