A Forrest Sherman class destroyer laid down by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation at Quincy, Mass. on 15 June 1955. Named after Admiral Jonas H. Ingram, awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the engagement of Vera Cruz on 22 April 1914

I served aboard the U.S.S. JONAS INGRAM (DD-938) FROM 1976-1980 KNOWN AS
"THE CADILLAC OF THE FLEET" WHEN I WAS ABOARD,OR "THE JOLLY J.I." WHEN I WAS ON BOARD
