Hello,

My father was QMC Richard F Chapman.  He was a plankowner and was stationed aboard The Fort as a Plankowner from 1972 - 1977.  I, too, was an honorary Plankowner since I was christened on the bridge the day of commissioning.  Just thought I would stop in and say hello.

I was stationed on the Fort from 1976 to 1979 as part of A Gang. In memory of Perl Harbor Day here are some photos I took around 1977 when we stop at Perl on our way over on West Pac.  Some of the photos include ships company visiting the Arizona Memorial.

My First ship ... reported onboard and met the ship in Subic while she was on the 75/76 Westpac.  Was part of OI Division.  Served on her for right at 4 years.  Have nothing but fond memories of the FORT.  This is a Picture of Rob Varney and Me (Rusty Hopp) in CIC during one of our WESTPACs ... Great Ship.

I was precom in Boston and served on her from Nov 72 until Nov 73. I don't recognize any other names here, any plank owners out there besides me? Whether you joined the fisher in Charlsetown MA or Diego (precom crew) pop me an e-mail, bshaffer@stsgi.com.
Looking for JP Shafer, John Getz and anyone else from the engine rooms or anyone else who used to party at the apartment in Long Beach.

I severed aboard "The Fort" from 1983-87 as an RM2/RM1. Made 2 Westpacs and took her to the yard period in Portland, OR in '86.
