Was on Ike from Jan 1978 until June 1981, Made the first Med cruise as well as the IO cruise. Remember the beers after 99 days at sea and pulling into Singapore in July. Also remember being angery because a port visit to Perth was cancelled because the carrier that was on station couldn't conduct flight operations and after we got back on station the other carrier was operational.

I had the honor of being on "Ike" during the 1980 cruise in the Indian Ocean, during the hostage crisis. Had to go all the way around the world to get to her, tho. Rota, Spain was a tad bit aways from there. LMAO
