Crossed the first time on 18 April 1972 enroute Yankee Station on the USS Saratoga CV-60. I remember like it was yesterday!

Our memorbalia is part of our lives. I would say that you are now a part of the USS Salem museum.

I kept min e also, over a year ago I donated a bunch of memorbalia to the USS Salem museum. Really have no one to leave it to, decided to donate to a floating museum, so future generations can see it!

Crossed a couple times on the USS Hornet CVS 12. It is something you will always remember. Still have my old rump Whacker

I crossed on the Annapolis, and then a few times on the Hornet.  I had one LT that was on me all the time.  I was on the bridge when I saw him on deck.  Went down and gave him one hell of a whack on the rump.  The when he turned around I saluted him.   Next few weeks were a b**** but I think I made my point

I would gladly cross it one more time as a shellback, along with a certain ENSIGN I remember if he could be a LOWLY  pollywog!!

I crossed shortly after coming onboard the USS Mattaponi (AO-41) in early 1969 as she transited between Sasebo and Brisbane. One of those things you wouldn't trade for a million dollars, but also wouldn't necessarily do again either. Here's me coming out of the garbage shoot. Fun times.

I got to cross the line twice,1975 and 1977. I want to go back !!

Comment by Stanley Alan Garrett on March 23, 2014 at 7:29am

I never got that second crossing.

I crossed a second time 245 days later on the return trip to Norfolk...
