NAS Miramar

The station is best known as the location of the TOPGUN training program and the movie of the same name. In 1996 the school was relocated to Naval Air Station Fallon. During the heyday of TOPGUN the station was nicknamed "Fightertown USA".

I was an instructor for the Aviation Physiology Training Unit, supporting Fightertown, USA and TopGun candidates. Our curriculum included instruction in the physiological aspects of flight, ejection seats, night vision and water survival. Additional duties included supporting the flight line as a member of the rescue ambulance team.
