I was just reading some comments and it made me reflect on my time at NAS Key West and how horrible of a place to be stationed at, then looking over my entire career in the Navy and I realized that NAS Key West was the best duty I’ve seen in the Navy. We went back for a visit in 2015, boy, has it changed, the traffic was horrible and you have to pay to park at most places down town, but I still love it!

I was stationned as an AC from 1964 to 1966.  I changed rates and left NAS  in 1966.  I am trying to find other AC's during my tour.

I was at AIMD in the mid 80"s and spent more time working on a charter boat than I did in my shop.  IT took me 25 years to leave Key West. who would have thought?

I was stationed at NAS Key West April 1970 to June 1972. It was my first tour as a new Maintenance Officer where I worked as the Airframes Officer with AMSC Markowitz(?). At the time LCDR Cotham was the AIMD Officer and LCDR Simon was the ASST AIMD Officer. My wife and I lived at 845 Sigsbee Drive in housing

I was stationed at NAS in 68-70. I enjoyed my tour and met many good shipmates. Loved scuba diving off the Keys and bar hoping with my roommates. Made a few trips up to Miami and Boca Rotan. Was there during Hurricane Camille.

Served with the Navy Seabee Self Help program in Key West from Dec 91-93. Was there during Hurricane Andrew and we were some of the first to respond!!  Hoorah Seabees!

I was station at NAS Key West from 1966-1967 in the Ground Electronics group.  I am interested in contacting anyone who served with me.  I am having trouble with the VA trying to prove an illness I had while at Key West.

I was the first enlisted WAVE to be assigned to NAS Key West. The commanding officer, Captain Gillooly (sp) met me and said, "I don't like WAVES; you're an experiment. If you work out, I'll ask for more." He was worried I wouldn't meet a "nice boy," so he had me help out in the library (I was editor of the base paper!) several afternoons a week. The PAO was Lt. Sweet. Was there only seven months, but I loved it. Lived on Flagler Ave. (finally) as there were no WAVE barracks. More were assigned after I left, and I understand they didn't "work out" so well.
