Bet Squadron commander was Capt. Drum. Ornery old duffer. His Exec was Richard Chamberlain, huge man, and a good pilot. Once in 1963 he was Second Pilot to the best ever, Richard Burton, commander of N28424 .Secretary of Defense of Peru got stranded in Texas, so we took a boondoggle and flew him back to Lima. Got drunk in Panama on warm green beer. . Crew mates somehow got me on the plane. Cdr. Burton shows up in shades and asked second mech if plane is gassed. "yes Sir, planes gassed and so is the crew"

WOW! That is awesome.  I flew on a/c#609 VR-21 navy air transport aircraft form  NAS Alemeda to NAS Barbers Point Hawaii in April of  1960, ironically 609 was also my company  number in basic training at USNTC San Diego, California.
