Crossed the Article Circle while aboard the USS Independence CVA-62 in Sept. 1971. My certificate after over 40 years is somewhat faded, but still looks good.

I crossed the Artic Circle aboard a air force AWAC plane while stationed in Iceland. I was a RMC at the time.

Ok, finally found my paper from Bluenose.  I crossed the Artic Circle on 10 Oct 1968, on the USS Yorktown CVS 10 @ 07-31W.  That's the north Atlantic, don't remember the exercise we were on, but do remember we had some long range Russian aircraft flying overhead.  Even have some pics of them.  Think they were TU-95s. scan0001.jpg

I was aboard the USS Pawcatuck, we across the Arctic Circle  in Jan of 1972. The first time only one person had across before then the second time the rest of the crew cross expect few several new bees, we had fun with them. Love it

Crossed October 1988,  on USS Newport LST-1179. We were not suppossed to be on that cruise. Got back to Little Creek in Nov. Had change of command in Bergen Norway.  Lost great CO and got a bad one. Did get to much liberty on that cruise.
