I wonder how close that Russian warship came to being sunk by one of our subs. I understand there were Russian subs in the area too. And plenty of warships from both sides.
Aside from the Sea Sparrow launchers the Big E carried, not sure what other defense weaponry she had at that time.
And how close to a target they could be used.

It looks like a tense situation. I see you've got a couple birds ready to go if needed What aircraft are these?
The old war horses for back then. F-4 Phantoms. It looked like we were going to get involved with that hot spot too. I guess one war wasn't enough. It seemed like everybody was fighting back then.
