"I would like any GTMO insignias or artifacts for posterity. My family and I really enjoyed our 18 month stay at GTMO and am in the process of writing my memoirs to leave to my children, Grandchildren and Greatgrandchildren. Thanks to you all"
"Glad to hear from a shipmate. Thank you for your service. My nephew was also at GTMO for a shakedown cruise on a DD later in 1966 and we were able to get together. Anyway, I guess I missed all the excitement you all went through and we caught the…"

October of 63 I was in 5th grade! The 1st barracks I was in when I got there in 72 was at least a vintage Korean War era barracks that was in the vicinity of the school building. Once we were assigned to a company we were moved to one of the "H" shaped barracks that were made of of 4 man cubicles. The hospital was painted pink - they built a new hospital back in the 80s and Corps School is now on an Army base in Texas. I can see the need for consolidation to controll spending, but, for people like us it is lost memories. Just like RTC is gone, everyone thought that RTC San Diego would survive, instead they kept G Lakes - because it is in the middle of the country.
