Gave up that heavy drinking years ago now I have a beer once in awhile,2 is my limit a lesson learned. Sure do remember Lt. Stills, how could you forget. I remember being a pollywog and then the better days doing the butt slapping. I still have my butt slapper wife beware.Sounds like you did pretty well for yourself staying in the same field as you were in.Sure sounds like a nice climate there but do you have to worry about the volcano ?
This Navy veterans Page is really great and Dam proud to be a Navy Vet. Was hoping one of my boys would carry on the tradition. My dad was on the USS Guadalcanal and he was aboard 6-4-1944 when they captured the German sub U-505 that is in the Chicago museum. If it wasn't for this site I never would have been able to get in touch with you. Thank-you all for making this possible.
That had to be an awful shock on the body bouncing around on that hard flight deck. To bad about the back,i Know all about that. Repaired large punch presses and tool room machinery in a automotive stamping plant for 35 years.Back pretty bad now was able to retire at 58. Gotta tell ya sure is nice to be able to communate with an old friend I have not seen in 44 years. Temperature here 7 am 3.9 degrees f There 58 degrees. Catch ya later.
After all these years was not sure but I thought that was the storm you had a history with.As for Jumping out of a perfectly good copter guess you thought you could fly.HA HA!!!! The only close call I had was when I had to go to the top of the island and climb the tube to the 4 antennas on narrow rails with a wire brush and clean them. Slipped just as I was hooking up safety belt,bout near shit my pants, awful jerk when belt came tight.
Do you remember the time we went thru that big storm in the sea of japan? The waves were coming over the bow onto the flight deck and freezing. One of my best friends was on one of the DD and said there were more sick sailors on that trip than you would find on a good night on the town in Sasebo. Said they were tying themselves in their bunks so they would not fall out.

never did go to teletype school,left Hornet in Washington may of1970. Dan Williams RM 1 and I and our familes drove back to mi. and then spent 2 years in reserves. still here in grand rapids mi. you taught me some repair and you were a good babysitter Semk also
