USS Claud Jones (DE-1033) was launched 27 May 1958 by Avondale Marine Ways, Avondale, Louisiana, sponsored by Mrs. M. R. J. Wyllie; and commissioned 10 February 1959, Lieutenant Commander W. M. Cone in command. The ship was named for Claud Ashton Jones.

  • That damn Friedhaber is Everywhere.  Rumor has it that the Claud Jones was finally cut adrift by the Indonesian Navy after ANOTHER 35 years of service...in 2009.

     

    The scuttlebutt was that she should never be turned into razor blades, but rather returned to her natural state: Adrift.
