USS Quapaw (ATF–110/AT-110) was a Abnaki-class fleet ocean tug in the United States Navy. She was named after the Quapaw, a tribe of Native Americans who historically resided on the west side of the Mississippi River in what is now the state of Arkansas.

  • Besides the longest tow, from San Diego to Diego Garcia, she fired her 3" gun when she fell into harms way trying to retrieve portions of the C5A that crashed at the end of the Viet Nam war.  Her screw had been replace with an LST's screw and enabled her to reach and cruise at 18 to 20 knots, the fastest I believe any ATF has reached.  One of her notable tows was the Midway.  She participated in the Trust territory tour of the western Carolina's and Marshal Islands.  All of this in three years, from 1973-1975.  I was OS2 at the time.
