The original station was commissioned on 12 April 1933 and dedicated NAS Sunnyvale after the death of Rear Admiral William A. Moffett, who is credited with the creation of the airfield, in the loss of the USS Akron on 4 April 1933. The Hangars #1, #2, and #3, and the adjacent Shenandoah Plaza are collectively designated as a National Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

I was a black shoe ET3 attached to NTCC (Naval Telecommunications (Center I think? Command? I forget!)) 1979-1980. It was a small tenant unit, our command was at Stockton.
I was stationed at NAS MOFFETT FELD communications Dec64-Dec66
I drilled with VP28G5 from 1971 to March 1975 Airframes shop and check crew P3's.
Was at Moffett Sept76-Nov78. Made RM3 there, worked in the NTCC, then was one of the first wave ASCOMM ops at the TSC . Anybody from that time around?
While at Moffett since I was a Black Shoe, I was the Captains Driver and also Security
