Welcome aboard Chief McGrew. Looks like you got to Meridian about 4 years ahead of me and retired about 10 years before me. I really liked Meridian got my first taste of flying there. Miss getting to play with all the big boy toys. Bet you didn't make very many parachute bags during your career did ya.
Been retired since 8/78 and still miss the Navy bunches. Would go back in a heartbeat if they took 75 year old retreads! lol
i went there an airman apprentis and left in 71 a po3. i to loved it as i did all my duty stations. never thought i would miss the navy, but i do. we sure had some cool big boy toys.was in the gulf of tonkin in 72
Though it was a crazy shore duty for me. I first had orders to vt-19 and I checked in there and was promptly pcs'd to vt-19 as they were in the process of splitting. Was there for a short while and was sent TAD to 7 as they needed a AT1. After a couple of years I was pcs'd to 7. I am probably the only person to ever to be in all 3 squadrons in the same shore duty tour. lol
I was there from 71-75, then went to Diego Garcia to set up the aimd for P3's. Loved Meridian though.
