The history of U. S. Naval Hospital on Guam began in August of 1899; with the arrival of the Medical Officer of the USS Yosemite, Surgeon Philip Leach and Assistant Surgeons Mark V. Stone and Alfred G. Grunwell.

  • Dave - I remember you. You worked for Master Chief Colvin. I worked in dental up on the second deck at the front of he hospital. In my nearly 30 years service, Guam was my favorite duty station. I saw your pot to Philip McKoon and that prompted m to join this site. Sadly "Mac "passed away two years ago. I keep in touch with the family through his daughter.

    I was at NavRegMedCenGuam from July 73 to Sept 74. I worked in the Personnel Office. The command was so small I thought I knew everyone. Maybe I'm getting old. We must have crossed paths. Where did you work?

  • I was there 1973 thru 1975 when the Vietnamese Refugees came. Lot of hard work during that time but it was enjoyable.  Guam was my favorite duty station after serving 30 years. I could go back there to live.
