On 1 January 1946, Commander Minesweeping Forces, Atlantic Fleet (ComMinLant) was activated to command minesweepers assigned to the Atlantic Fleet. The Commander, Mine Forces, Atlantic was responsible for all Fleet minecraft operations.

  • I was stationed at Mine Craft Support Unit, Mine Force U S Atlantic Fleet  Electric Motor Rewind Shop,Electrician Mate fireman from March 1965 to March 1966 and was transferred to the USS Observation Island EAG 154 in March 1966 at Cape Canaveral Fla.

  • Was stationed at Minecraft Support Unit Charleston, SC Oct 66 in the carpenter shop as a Damage Control seaman. Left in Oct 68 as a DC 2. Worked on the MSB, MSC & MSO boats doing anything with wood from replacing hull planking to re-decking four boats.

  • Served as COMINEWARCOM Ass't Flag Secretary as a CWO2/CWO3 and LTJG from Aug 1972 to Jun 1975 and supported Operation Clean Sweep, Mine Clearance of Haiphong Harbor and participated in Operation Nimbus Star - Suez Canal Mine Clearance.  One of my best' supposed' shore tours.  Regretfully we lost our admiral and many staff member in air crash at Charlotte, NC in Sep 1974. My pride and joy was restarting the "Annual Oyster Roast" on the waterfront behind the Headquarters Bldg. .

MIne Div 82, Comninron 8

 USS Exultant MSO-441 came on board 1966 through May of 67< made the Med cruise, got back to Charleston...went to the yard and I got transferred to COMNAVFORV, Saigon.Started in the comm center and finished up in the briefing facility as an illustrator.
