Hi Robert I came aboard CHB 2 65 , left 1-67 from Cam Rhan Bay the LST was the Parks County Mike has a good list the lost tribe CHB 2 working with Army was something else I liked working ships in Da Nang living on the APL 30 was something else too.

When did you come to CHB-2? I arrived in Feb. 66 and left in may of 67 or 68. Can't really remember when. When I checked into the unit it was in DaNang and Cmdr. Bosco was the Co. and Lt. Bayles was the XO. I believe Cmdr. larson relieved him and we soon left for Subic for about a month and returned to cam Rhan Bay aboard an LST. can't remember it's name. We were there for about a year trying to train the army to offload cargo, which was a joke. We then went to Guam and I was there for about a month when I was called into the office and was asked if I wanted an early out. So of course I said yes and left Guam about two hours later. I also volunteered for a couple of caravans to NaTrang and Hue to deliver supplies to the Marines of the 3rd Marine Div. I beleive since they were in our area.
I have managed to get in touch with one person of the old unit and that was Mike Walsh who I didn't know while I was there but were there at the same time and we both bunked on APL 30 while in DanNang.

When did you arrive on the scene? I was with the original compliment that arrived in April 65 with the 9th MEB out of Subic. Don't think we crossed paths in the 15 months I was there. It was a dynamic situation back then though things changed rapidly on a regular basis. Hit my email and we'll continue the conversation. Theres several of us who stay in touch via a newsletter as well.
