  • Allen, I want to get a copy of that CD cause a lot of the pictures that was taken (black and white) was from a darkroom I had aboard ship next to the AC&R repair shop,the ACC repair shop.My cruise book I lended out and was not returned,Great cruise that was!! THANKS!

  • Greeting Steamers.....I picked up the WIlliam H Standley in 1977 after leaving shore duty in Mayport, Fl when she was in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Bremerton, Wa. Spent a year then we followed her to San Diego where I made a Westpac cruise when Iran took our hostages.  Was in the radio shack and made RM1 before I left her in June of '81. Nice site and glad I found it.

  • Kevin: Yes I had my slice of this cake. Also had a slice of his Frank Tenhove's cake he baked for "change of command" on 29 Oct 1971(my birthday). Capt Al Blanks(92yo now) was relieved by Capt Richard Palkovick(deceased)
