A Shenandoah-class destroyer tender, the only ship to be named for the Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, launched 7 March 1946.

  • I was stationed on the Bryce Canyon and I was in the R4 division(Electronics). Pearl Harbor was the most interesting place I have ever been. My neighbor when I was a teenager had served there and was there when Japan attacked. He was credited with shooting down a Zero from the deck of his ship. It did not actually crash but damaged badly enough that it had to leave with it's bombs still on the aircraft.

USS Bryce Canyon AD-36

I was aboard the Bryce Canyon from 1965-1967 in S-1 Div. I was a Machine Accountant, rate later changed to Data Processing Technician. I am currently writing a history book on the BC and I am contacting former shipmates to see if they have any photos I could borrow to add to my book.
