  • I was with VP8 from 72-73, crew 10. Being the ordnanceman, I was also the cook. I hope no one held that against me. My crew mates were simply outstanding individuals. I went to places I will surely never see again-Spain, Bermuda, Iceland, England, Azores. Wonderful places with wonderful friends.

  • I was with VP-8 from 1997-2001. Was the AV/ARM Division LCPO, then the QA Supervisor, then Maintenance Control. Also was the acting CMC for a period of time. Enjoyed the deployments.

  • I joined VP-8 right out of AEA school in Jax in 1957 which then was in Quonset Point R.I. We then went to NAS Argencia Newfoundland and was called to start detachment alpha the first anti-sub detachment in 1958 in Chincoteage Va. We was in one side of a new hanger. In 1959 we closed the base and moved to NAS Norfolk, Va. I was in crew 12 flying ECM on P2V-5F's and left as AE-2 in 1960.
  • VP-8 was my first duty station. Assigned in Oct '86 when the squadron was on deployment to Iceland. Stationed there from '86-'91. Worked in AIMD as an AT3. Did deployments to Iceland (twice), Lajes, and Sigonella.

  • I joined VP8 in March 1972 moving from VX1 in Key West, FL to NAS Brunswick, ME.  I served as an inflight tech and made several deployments on crew 12.  I also was the AT shop night check LPO when not flying.  Enjoyed many flights on the P3A's

  • I joined VP8 about March of 1965 ad was discharged in Aug. 1968 you are right the P3A was a good plane. I was a member of crew 8 for the time that I was there. I miss a lot of my ship mates and was trying to look them up.

VP8 at Pax River

I joined VP while it was on deployment to NAS Bermuda out of Pax River in 1969. In the Fall of 1971, 3 months before I was separated, VP8 moved to NAS Brunswick.  I was a member of Crew 3,  the NATOPS Crew.  When I left VP8, they were still flying the first P3As to enter the Fleet.  Other squadrons were receiving P3Cs, but the Tigers were still flying the original P3As. That was one damn good airplane!
