  • Was attached to NAS in Sept 65 to July of 66.  Aviation Supply.  Worked under a GS, but don't remember his name.  We were right next door to the SKs and only a block or two from the blimp hangers.  Only stood guard two times, once at the blimp hanger at night and once out on the line of the runway.  St Simon and Jekyll Islands were two of our destinations for fun.  Dated a gal from there for a couple of years, till I went to Adak.

  • Assigned to NATTC Glyncoafter returning from NSAD Chu Lai, RVN.  Went to Pax River for training to be an instructor on the SPN-42 ACLS Radar.  Was first located in the old blimp hangar and moved to the new building. There from '68 to '73.

  • Went to Glynco in July 1972 for training.  AFter I graduated I wound up being an instructor.  I taught CPN-4, DAIR, Micro Miniture Component Repair, and TPX-42.  I helped move the schools to NATTC Memphis in Millington, TN in 1974.  Left the Navy from there in 1976.

  • I spent 18 weeks at Glynco in 1964, ending Memorial Day weekend at the Maint Course for the AN/CPN-4A graduating with a NEC of ET-1577.

If any of you ACs heard of an ET named Frank Coffman in your GCA travels, I've been looking for him for awhile.  Frank made ETC as part of Det B, Antarctica.  If you know of anyone that went to Antarctice I'd appreciate hearing about them.

  • I was staff at the GCA school from 1963-1966

  • Stephen, I agree. we were about a year apart on both schools. I got there in Oct of 68 for ACA then to Chase Field. Back for GCA in May of 70> I do want to go back to Brunswick/St Simons to show my kids But without the Old Blimp hangers there is not much to show of the base. Understand it is a Live Fire training location for Homeland Security Types

  • AC/A school '68, and GCA/C school '69.  Great place to teach a young sailor a job.  I loved it.  Looking at it on GoogleEarth, I don't think I want to go back.
