  • BRUNS, Randall L.   HM1   Enlisted DEP Nov, 74, reported to RTC Orlando 20JAN75.  HM-A School GLAKES.  Duty station NRMC Orlando JUL75-JAN79.  Out for a few years, then into Reserves DEC83-JUL94 NRNH GLAKES, then medically released.  Activated for Desert Shield/Storm. 
    I am proud of my service and proud to be a Veteran, I respect our Flag and pray for our military.

    My father was a WWII vet and my stepson is in NAVY DEP, going to bootcamp in JUL12 and to HM school after boot.

    My "THANKS" to all Veterans !!  BRAVO ZULU !!

  • I was in the Navy 8 years and medicaly discharged and was in from 1978 though 1986. Served ion the USS Midway HC-! det 2 , VQ-4 A little known squadron in the NAvy was made because of the Cold war.VQ-4 Pax river MD,  VS-30 Cecil Field Fl. after 9 monthsd medical hold HS-1 DUty Office Jax FL.

NH/NRMC Charleston SC; USNH Keflavik Iceland; NH MCAGCC 29 Palms CA; USS Juneau (LPD 10) NSHS San Diego, H&S Co, 3d Med Bn, 3d FSSG, Camp Hansen Okinawa; H&S Co, 1st CSSG, 1ST FSSG MCAGCC. 1st CIVDIV. Long break, then DoD Iraq.

  • I served on active duty from 1973-1976 then in the reserves from 1982-1998. As an NEC 8404 FMF Corpman, I spent almost all my time with USMC units and my last reserve unit was NR NAVHOSP CAMPEN 919 at the NMCRC Ling Beach, CA.

  • Keith, fun is what you make it.  There is no reason that a social member can't help out with projects, parades, etc.  At our Post, many social members participate to a great extent.  What many people fail to realize is that the VFW was formed as a place for Veterans who served in a war zone, to share experiences.  The American Legion was formed as a place for all veterans to congregate.

  • well that doesn't sound like much fun. Here, pay your dues, you can sit at the bar, but you can't vote, be on any committees or really do anything constructive for the organisation, but we're happy to take your money. Hmm, actually sounds a bit like the federal government

Cold War Service Medal-2015

On April 28. 2015 Congressman Steve Israel(D NY-3); as he has for the last several years, along with Congressman David Jolly (R-FL 13) and seven other cosponsors introduce H.R. 2067 The Cold War Service Medal Act 2015.
