  • I was aboard the "Jolly Wally"  as a reservist from July '63 until I went active in May '66.  Started out as a SA, transfered to FA, then made MR3 before I went to Da Nang, Vietnam.

  • I served aboard the USS Walton as a RM2 and RM1 during 1961-1962 when the ship was pulled out of its reserve training status at TI to join the fleet due to the Berlin Crisis. The reserve crew road a 'troop train' from SFRAN down to NAVSTA LBEACH to catch our ship. We then sailed to Pearl where we would be home ported. Went into the yards for refitting then lots of underway training prior to our WESTPAC cruise which took us to patrolling off Vietnam, with visits to Subic Bay (numerous times), Japan and Hong Kong.
