  • Rob Sitze. My first ship the U.S.S. Yorktown CVS-10 the lead ship at Patriots Piont in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina has visitors access to # 2 fireroom and the foreward engine room (main control) Allthough i was assigned to # 4 fireroom i stood many a watch in # 2. The first time i was aboard was 19 years after i left the ship. Sure brought many a memory.
  • would of loved just to walk in SD again.
  • The wife and I visited the USS Midway in San Diego this year, couldn't go into the fireroom, but it was still cool to visit my first ship.  Brought back lots of memories.
  • BTC Warner, Got that right! On USS lex. in CC I'm always looking over my shoulder like something is there. I try to trell the true story of the PIT SNIPE life! maybe it's all the passed snipes that make me look?? My wife & Daughter won't go pass the main deck. Want to tour Lex by myself, spend 2 hour's liven it! BT3RK
  • Rusty,I retired in '95 a year before the BT rating changed,"OLD NAVY"!! Buy then all the ships I was stationed on where gone too,I retired off the Puget Sound (AD-38) as fleet ABC repairman in Norfolk.Saddest thing was to watch them decommission a steamer at lest once a week during that last year, one day the ship is full of life with her crew, the next day empty, cold and dead,as they tow them away.
  • Mr Kilgore; Like you my funds are limited. Once you get the ball rolling let me know OK.
  • To Al & BTC: The guy is willing to make them. He doesn't have any to offer right now (don't understand why?). He also does custum work, that why they will be $14.00 a pop. Give me a couple of payday's and I'll start the fire's on them!  I'll ask him to make more and post them on his site. Had to be HELL for BTC Warner to sew a Prop. on his left sleave. I know MM's were our brothers, But, weren't the still @ cold iron watch when we were light'n off?? J/K BT3RK
  • Mr. Kilgore: I went on the web link you gave me,and they had everything except the pin i wanted. Thank You anyway I've been on many Navy,Military & links such as e-bay, but havent found the BT pin yet. Oh well I'm retired so i have pleanty of time to search.
  • I find it interesting that they post boiler adds on this page.
  • Thank you BT  R.Kilgore

sprayer plates

nsfo sucked f-76 was pretty good burning jp-5 you could burn but superheater temps woud be higher and it did burn cleaner but was expensive to burn in a boiler and we made ourown overloads on the coral sea drilled out some 11s and made 9s for full power runs and wartimeuse. Steaming an m-type with no abc"s was a real challenge but it made the watch go by fast.
