  • Rob Sitze: I have an appiontment at the V.A.Hospital on 23 November to be fitted with hearing aids (It's about time,  I've been trying for nearly 5 years)  I don't think that would be a good time to meet up as It's the day before Thanksgiving. Perhaps 15 January would be better as i just go for lab work that day.
  • Net time your in town, let me know ahead of time and see if we can meet up.
  • Rob: I get my health care from the V.A. Hospital in Fayetteville.
  • Your not far from me, I'm in Sanford, NC.
  • Rob Sitze: I'm 4 1/2  hours away,in Selma North Carolina. The best time to visit the Yorktown is the second full weekend of October. That's when we have our annual reunion. On the Saturday of the reunion a bunch of former crewmembers have a meet & greet in the hangar bay. The visitors can talk with actual crewmembers instead of reading stuff off of a phamplet.Maybe I'll see ya there next year. I'm the handsome one with a full  WHITE BEARD as i do Santa every Christmas season.

  • Alphonse, I've visited the Yorktown, was pretty cool.  I'm only 5 hours from Charleston.

Kevin, we didn't stay long in SD, wasn't anything else we wanted to see.  Most everything I remember there was with my first wife, and as she has passed on, I didn't really want to re-visit some of those places.

  • Kevin: No i don't have a picture of her,but you can go to the Yorktown Association web site. It's www.yorktown.net. If you click on 2011 reunion photos you'll find a bearded guy in a couple of the pics. That would be me. I'm not too computer savy, but i have some photos taken at a reunion a few years ago showng # 2 If one of my kids drops by I'll have them show me how to e-mail photos to your e-mail address if you want to give it to me.

nsfo sucked f-76 was pretty good burning jp-5 you could burn but superheater temps woud be higher and it did burn cleaner but was expensive to burn in a boiler and we made ourown overloads on the coral sea drilled out some 11s and made 9s for full power runs and wartimeuse. Steaming an m-type with no abc"s was a real challenge but it made the watch go by fast.
