  • 64 I removing rigging blocks off booms with snow falling someone called up said you got your orders your leaving at midnight. Glad to leave the old Navasota it was colder than hell. Loved the trip down under. Everyone was saying can't cut a ship in half she will break up in the storm lol.

  • I went on board the Navasota in Bremerton, Washington in earley 1964 when it was cut into 3 pieces to be jumboized. I was onboad untes Sept. of 64 when I reenlisted and went to BT B School and then stationed in Hawaii

  •  reported too navasota in the summer of 1961 at long beach calif. at that time it was still a navy ship. made two trips too west pack, one was the coral sea celebration. left navasota after relisting in 63 and was transfer too uss burton island agb-1 bremerton wash. saw navasota cut in half in washington

     

  • I was aboard the USNS Navasota TAO-106 1981-1983 when she was an oiler with MSC. I was a Third Assistant Engineer and then took over as the Diesel Engineer and ran the 3 2500 HP 16 cyl ALCO diesels to provide the power for the cargo transfer pumps.
