  • I WAS ABOARD THE USS MILWAUKEE (AOR-2) WHEN I BECAME A BLUE NOSE. I WAS ON SHIP FROM SEPT. 1969 TO DEC. 1972.
  • Nose turned blue in July 1970 on the way to Thule AFB for a 2-week Iceberg Patrol in a VP8 P3A out of Pax River.
  • got my Blue Nose on a P3-C Update II Orian from VP-5 flying out of Kef Iceland in 1979. Very cool flight! I'm still wondering how they got that hairy- greasy-assed polar bear on the plane. LOL

  • Picture here is my family. I was on the USS FORRESTAL (CV-59) during our workups in Feb "82" went to above the Arctic Circle.
  • I crossed the Artic Circle onboard the Spruance in 1988. We were participating in a joint NATO (I think) exercise when we detected a Russian sub. We were broken off from the exercise and followed the sub up north of Norway as she went to her homeport.
  • First time across was 1978.
  • Already got one on my wall
