  • Hi Skipper, I was an AO3 on Crew 6 with LCDR "Stump" Mitchel for that deployment. We were part of the formation return to Jax, both deployments. Great flying days.

  • Ah, yes I see the difference now. It was an earlier pic than I thought. I was on the 88-89 Sig deployment. Cdr Trudell was our CO. I've actually seen the Etna photo a few times in other articles discussing the P-3.

  • The Navy Times Spotlght article was from the second Sig deployment in 1983.  I was the XO/C0 from 1982 to 1984.

  • It could have been either of the 2 Sig deployments we made between1981 & 1983. That tail number is a base line charlie. When did 49 transition to the upgrades?

  • That pic was taken over Mt Etna, I believe, 1988-89 deployment.

  • Randy, are you aware that there is also a facebook group page for VP49?

  • I had just transfered out and was on leave when this was published in the navy times. I have never seen it before, thanks for sharing Randy.

  • Well I think I have got into this forum correctly.

Hey Rob, thanks for inviting me here. Have you invited others?

Hey David please post your picture.

Mr. Fry, I think I remember you but I am not certain. Can you post a picture also?
