  • Yes, I had a nice '82 Honda Silverwing.  At least it was nice until a stupid half grown German Shepherd tried to make me stop.  Drilled him square and killed his ass outright.  Damn near killed me too.  Tried fixing up my bike after that, but moved to Alaska and storage got to be a problem.  Had to sell it to some guy who wanted to cut it all apart and make some half-assed car out of it.

Nice thing about being a Molder was right after I got out, I entered a Sand Castle contest down on the Oregon coast.  I showed them lubbers how sand can be stacked up real high and not fall down.  I made a Sand Castle with one inch thick walls...three feet high.  NO wires or fancy sand mixtures.

LOTS of people were asking, "How did you DO that????"  Yeah.  I took first place.

  • Did some time in a few sand boxes....Spear, Orion, Fulton.

Met some decent people along the way. Saw a few mentioned on here, wondered about some of the others.....been on two wheels myself since before the haze gray years....upwards of 40 years on bikes....my brother started me on them. Thanks for the welcome aboard. Nice to see that the rate may be gone, but never forgotten

  • I still post on here.  I was on USS Hector (AR-7) from Feb. 1972- June 1975.  Craig Lami was in my Molder A school class.  Him and I lived in the same cube in the barracks, too.  He is the one that turned me into a Biker.

  • Welcome aboard.  I haven't posted much for a while.  Been kinda busy.

You went in just before I got out in Dec. '79.  I was on the AS32, AS33, & AD37.

I have it on my list to post a lot of pictures.  I just have to find them first.  Check out the other guys pages.  Some of them have a lot of pictures posted.  David Asche is a good place to start.

  • Anyone still posting on here?

  • Request permission to come aboard

  • Anyone still active? I often wonder if I am the last Molder in the Navy. Went to Molder A in the summer of 89 and when the Navy closed the ML rate, I struck for DC. Today I am the ENG LCPO onboard IKE. Still missing the foundry.
  • That's a LOT of people in that picture!  We didn't have half that many when I went through A school.  Our picture was Black and White, too!

  • Molder A School class 85001 and 85003. Jan. 1985-May 1985.

Posablly seeing about starting up a navy molders museum?

I know they dismissed our rate back in 1997. I would hope there are enough of us left to possably  get together and see about creating a museum somewhere  here in the states to preserve our long history and heritage that we all have shared as Molders. Any of you out there please give me a response if you read this Discussion.                                      Thanks.
