The Truxtun came in there for a tender availability in early 82 (I think). It did not take us long to discover the Sea Bees First Class Living Room. Since most of the mess deck leadership were First Classes it did not take long for sliders, dogs, chicken and I think some steaks to make it to First Class grills. I still have a drink ticket that I bought and never used up. It was $10 and a can of beer was .50, everytime you got a beer they punched the ticket. I was the only one from the Truxtun that was allowed to spend the night on that isand by virture I was filling in as the Command Career Counselor and to speak to detailers you had to be up at whatever hour I just know it was an all nighter.
Fun in the sun, 1983 to 1984, worked R site. Does snyone remember civlian tech Tom Crawly. He used to buy meat for us so we could cook out at cannon point.
Was there with MCB 4 1973 - 1974 finished the main power plant so we had island power and got rid of the muse generator so it was quiet in the camp. lived in sea huts the whole deployment, watched movies shown on the side of what was to be the new chow hall
Went there on the advance Party with MCB Forty by ship in 1971, slept in tents, until the sea huts were built, flew out at the end of deployment after air strip was built.
