was stationed aboard the USS Oklahoma City, CG-5 from 1975-77. yokosuka was a good place to come back to, after a long deployment
while stationed at NavComFac yokosuka we carried our liberty card 24-7,They were given to us when stationed in Tokyo, only problem we had to be off the streets by midnite which made it a problem to get back on the base and to work by 7 am, could not come in main gate until 8 am, so would go to fleet landing, no guards until 8 am. would catch a ride on a M boat over to base landing. worked every time.
Had good duty and great times while being stationed at Yokosuka. Does anyone remember the Yokosuka beer hall just south of the main gate?
Onboard USS Providence (CLG-6) homeported in Yokosuka 1966-67.
Homeported there from 1985-89 ON the USS Midway.
Yokosuka Naval Base was my first command in the Navy. I was there from January '95 to May '98. I worked at the galley on base and at the BEQ.
My first visit to Yokosuska was during the Vietnam war while I was on the USS Annapolis AGMR1. We went through a yard overhaul while there.
