  • As I was going through the daunting task of cleaning out my mother's house due to her recent death, my brother and I came across some miscellaneous papers and photographs that my dad kept since his tour.  He was a Marine on board the San Jac during '44-'45.  The attached is a scanned copy of the San Jac Sun dated Friday 15,December 1944.  I'll post more docs when I get some time to scan & process. San%20Jac%20Sun%20No%2087.pdf

  • Credit for this picture goes to George C Plauche. I thought this picture is magnificent! It really shows how Naval Aviation has changed over the years. Thanks George.
  • My grandfather, Samuel W. Plauché, Jr., was the briefing officer for Fighter Squadron 45 ("Fighting 45") on board the San Jacinto from about September 1944 through May 1945.
  • My father was attached to the Marine division aboard the San Jacinto while participating in battle in the Pacific. Any vets or family members are encouraged to join.
