  • Was stationed at RR as an Air Controlman in Air Ops from May of '61 thru Nov '63.

The barracks and mess hall were just recently constructed in the Bundy area with many of the WWII era buildings still in use. Was a great adventure for a kid just out of high school. Wound up checking out of the Naval Station on the day Kennedy was shot, but may good memories also.

  • Worked at public works electrical shop 70 - 73
Lived at beautiful South Felicia's. Worst duty: driving a bus full of drunk skimmers back to their ship!
  • I was the first Air Traffic Control operator in 1957 when it was reactivated as a Naval Air Station.  Was transferred from Coco Solo Panama.  Discharged from "Rosy" in August 1958.  Lot of memories, started out in a portable tower (about 15' high) before the new tower was built top of the main hanger.

  • I was at Roosevelt Roads 1962 - 1964, First assigned to Ships Dept. and later to Personnel. Great place and many great memories there.

  • Base police of the security department getting ready to assume the watch.  Circa 1967.
