  • I was there with MCB 40 1969 and1970 at camp Moscrib I thank that was the name of the camp. Great place. Our camp was at the waters edge, dit some scuba and alot of snorkling there. A shipmate and I built a raft and made a flag for it  but base security met us as we were coming out of the warter and told us we could not fly our flag.  One side of it lock like a rebel flag.anyway we concured.

We found a large ship anchor with some help from a truck and winch we got it out of the water and gave it to the Master at Arms shack so they could put it out front of their bldg after it was cleaned up and painted. Good Times

  • I was a staffer then editor of the base newspaper Mira Que Pasa in 1970 and 1971. I've carried around the newspapers from that time for 50 years and finally got around to having them professionally scanned.  You can scan each page for topics, events, names, etc. A nice trip down memory lane,  Cost a lot more than I thought but happy to pass along a disk to anyone interesed for $25 to help defray costs.  They are all on a CD which I will mail you.  Contact me at dgdecker@cox.net (Dave Decker)

  • I am so thankful to find this Roosey Roads site.  Been looking for years for a way to reach out to former Navy buddies.  I spent 3 years and 4 months of my 4-year enlistment at Roosey Roads, and my time there still brings back memories, both good and bad.  Part of the Communications Dept., I worked as base messenger, Comm Center in-/out-router, Receiver/Transmitter site operator, and played lots of softball for both the Comm Dept and for the base tournament team.  -- RM3 Kubacki

  • I was stationed at Roosy from 1970 to 1972. Reporter then editor of MiraQuePasa and announcer and board operator at AFRTS AFCN Ch. 40.  Capt. Vita was CO then Capt. Hays.

Stationed from 1978 to 1980 VC-8

I was stationed at Roosevelt Roads from 1978 to 1980 mainly as a line crew member then in the OPs office. Being in the Navy was the best time of my life. The lovely weather. The great people. The awesome weekend trips and scenery. But, one unfortunate thing that happened was the horrific crash of our VC-8 H3 helicopter that contained 8 of our coworkers and crew members as they were on their way to St. Croix. It crashed not long after take off due to rotor failure. Pieces of the aircraft and…
