  • Served from 1978 to 1999 and loved almost every moment of it!

  • LOL I worked for Karl Holland. My time at NSSF I worked for two Senior Chiefs - Tommy Willman and Thomas (I think) Williamson and of course the Master Beast Holland.

  • I was also initiated on the hill. I retired in 89 from the Medical Research Lab  and with the demise of the old club just stopped going on the base. Did you relieve Carl Holland at NSSF?

  • I was initated in that club on the hill, loved going there on Thursday nights for the steam ship round and shrimp. Hanging out in that small bar on Sundays. I came back in 88 and they turned the "goat locker" into a pizza place and the Navy wonders why their sailors are fat! Just like at one time the EM club served meals and they changed to just sandwiches and there was the cafeteria in Dealy Center that became Burger King. Then the brass wonders why sailors are not slim trim and racey - go figure. :)

  • I was only in Sharkey's once, after I retired. 20 years on Sub Base Groton and spent my time at the CPO Club on the hill. Miss those days of screwing off but not the drills and other BS.

  • Retired in 1988 as a Chief Hospital Corpsman.  Retired from USS Shenandoah AD44 homeported in Norfolk, Virginia.  Enjoyed all my 20+ years in the Navy; most notably a 3 year tour of duty in Idaho Falls, Idaho with Naval Administrative Unit which provided support for Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit.

  • Retired after 21 years and love every minute to all my old shipmates keep aheadsup
  • 3439422899?profile=originalI am "OLD NAVY" and DAMN proud of it!!

  • Made a wonderful discovery today, thanks to the Direct TV box dying on Tuesday. Today I found the VHS tape of my retirement in 92 and it still played. I recognized people in the video that I have not even thought about in like two decades, brought back a whole lot of pleasant memories. I had a party afterwards at the "Chief's Club" it was a bar that was built on the ground floor of the Chief's barracks (that area was once a weight/exercise room). They actually redid the club and named it "Sharkey's Last Resort" we all hated it. Did not look like a Chief's club what so ever, but, that is where the retirement party was held and as bad as the decorations of that club were, it is where my final moments in the Navy ended. I need to take that tape and have a CD made of it and up load it in here.

One Huge Event

Greetings fellow Navy retirees! I served for twenty five years, and have told many sea stories. I like to categorize them just a little by putting them into Liberty wild tale type things, and Operations this is what happened on an exercise or evolution type thing. Do you have a really BIG EVENT that was very cool or maybe not so cool that you would like to tell the rest of us old salts?
