I reported on board in June 1965 as a member of first division. My nickname was Alfie Kline because the guys thought I looked like Alfred E Newman on Mad Magazine. I eventually struck for Signalman and attended SM A school in Newport RI and returned to the Sherman as a SMSN. I served until January 69 and was flown from Naples Italy to the states for separation.
