1956 into 1957 I attended MM "A" School.
Arrived Mainside from Sand Diego ahead of my start date so I spent a little time in a maintenance crew that worked out of a shop above the commissary. Most of our work was done in the dependant housing area, the crew did the maintenance while our "supervisor" kept the depandants happy.
I was assigned to the ADCOM SECURITY DEPT. USNTC GT LAKES right after finishing basic..Stood gate watches..Main Gate..22nd St. gate...
Main Gate Camp Moffett...Main Gate Camp Dewey Downs Porter..those were the gates to the basic training areas..at least from 62'-63' ..we were also assigned to the civilian run fire dept. had to do training like once a month..We also did traffic when needed...and got to ride shotgun in the patrol wagons..

BMCM MURPHY...His was the word..didn't care what anyone else said.
You do what Murph asks youto do your butt stays outta trouble...ans Murph stayed off your butt...
We were the gally cooks friend...and that meant we ate good..Cold doesn't even come close to describing Gt.Lakes.Wound up with pneumonia..spent 30 days in the MAINSIDE hospital..
Cute nurses...for that time frame...female by the way..1 Ltjg 1 Lt... Nice little swing when they would walk by....
