  • First duty station after AD school Memphis Tn.

Worked in AMD hanger 1963 till early 65.

Searching for my friend who worked in the same hanger, Tom Krok from Niles Ohio.

  • I was there in 77 for a few months. The day I arrived there was the command picnic pig roast. The two names that I remember are HM1 Joel Peveler and Mary Gayle Chalk.

  • I also have fond memories of the enlisted club, dancing on the bar and with the bands plus climbing over the fence back by the pool, etc.
  • Lindsey, did you work at that old wooden clinic at Barbers? I don't believe they build the large brick one until before I came back a second time in 1985. I was at Barbers Point the first time from Nov 75-Feb 78.
  • One of the youngest ones in here - did time at the "Point" in 77 at the clinic - a couple months later I was off to Pearl! Lot of good memories from that base. The "EM" club with a bartender by the name of JJ - he was retired by the time I got there in 77. In my time there was the fast food place some where in the vinicity of the EM club.

  • Went to Barbers Point Sept. 1952, at the time I was an AL Striker, attended Combat Aircrewman School at Fallwetrapac, then it was two years with VP-6 we flew P2V-3 then P2V-5 aircraft, remember VP-28, and VP-22, at the Point. It must have been the best location to do our training flights, the weather was just great, I see on the net the base changed as all bases do, but we enjoyed our duty at (haircut peninsula) in the 1950's. • Were any of you associated with any of the VW squadrons?  I started at Barbers Point in 1959 after 10 months on Midway.  Transferred to NAS Pax River in May, 1962.  Flew with VW-14 as 1st engineer.  Left the Navy in August 1967, went to schools and then pastored for 30 years.

  • I was stationed at Barbers Point from April 1960-1962.  I was attached to GMGRU One from april 1960 to September 1960 until it was disestablished and we were then attached to VU-1. I worked mostly on the flight line as an AD5 plane captain.  I loved the job and really loved being at NAS Barbers Point. What a beautiful base.

    I was an AMH3

In April of 1962 I received orders to VF-124 at NAS Miramar, California. I was discharged in  1965 at VT-22 at NAAS Kingsville, Kingsville, Texas.  I now reside in San Antonio , Texas, I would like to hear from any of my old ship mates who were in the Navy at at these duty  stations during the period of time that I was there Ronald Shaffer=timberwolfcub2011@yahoo.com

NAS Barbers Point

I was stationed at Barbers Point from April 1967 to April 1969 attached to squadron VC-1.   I played on the squadron volleyball team and softball team.  Also drove a school bus for a school year, that was like being in McHale's Navy.
