USS Mobile (AKA-115/LKA-115) was a Charleston class attack cargo ship named after the city of Mobile, Alabama. She was the fourth U.S. Navy ship to bear that name. She served as a commissioned ship for 24 years and 4 months.

  • I was a GM chief aboard the Mobile from 1972 through 1975. Does anyone remember, "Dangerous Dan the anchorman" (Lt. Danforth weapons officer )
  • I came onboard in 83 after boot camp and radiomen "A" school. It was tough for me because I had a chief that hated Hispanics. Luckily, after almost two year, I broke my ankle at Pearl Harbor and I was taken off the ship and ended up on the USS Camden before being honorably discharged.

  • USS Mobile was my next to last ship, and I only spent a few weeks aboard her in early 1970 as she was undergoing sea trials getting ready for her first deployment to Vietnam. I was transferred to USS Pickaway for decommissioning and an early out.

  • My first ship back in 1979
  • Mighty Mo. Served aboard her from March 72 to Sept 75.
