The USS Fulton (AS-11) was launched 27 December 1940 by Mare Island Navy Yard; sponsored by Mrs. A. T. Sutcliffe, great-granddaughter of Robert Fulton; and commissioned 12 September 1941, Commander A. D. Douglas in command.

  • I was on board for 1 year.Was in deck dept 2nd division with a rank of BM3. Left the ship on 7-11-75 on the way to civilian life.Now a retired auto worker living in Florida.I worked for MCPO Cassidy a big man to say the least. And mean to, yes he was tough. We would remove all torpedos off the subs and then remove all electrical motors and diesel engines that needed repairs.

  • I was attached to FMAG for a short time in 1975, had a shop on Fulton and a trailer in the parking lot. We basically repaired submarines tied along side.

  • I served on the Fulton for a breif time in the 70's.
