  • Hi All,
    I was at CVB from 76-78, which was my first tour of shore duty after five years at sea. I arrived as an SH2 from USS Higbee (DD806), then began a successful conversion to OT while I was there. I lived in the Fortuna Trailer Village, then later in Rio Dell.
  • I was stationed at Centerville Beach from Oct 1976 to Oct 1978 and was RM2 at the time.

TIME ASSIGNED TO NAVFAC CENTERVILLE BEACH 1982-1983

I WAS ASSIGNED TO NAVFAC CENTERVILLE BEACH IN FEB 1982 AFTER RM-A SCHOOL IN SAN DIEGO. IT WAS SORT OF CULTURE SHOCK AT FIRST, THEN I FINALLY SETTLED IN. THEY PUT ME IN THE BARRACKS ROOMING WITH THE FAMOUS CHRIS LUND. THAT WAS INSTERESTING. WE WERE IN E LOUNGE UPSTAIRS. SOON TOM WOOD CAME TO NAVFAC AS AN RM TOO. I'M STILL FRIENDS WITH HIM HE IS A SDPD SERGEANT IN SAN DIEGO. BUT OUR CHIEF WAS RMC RAMOS, HE WAS THE BOMB. GREAT GUY THE CO WAS CDR GUSTUFSON AND XO WAS A FEMALE LCDR WEIST. GREAT…

didn't know this site was around.... I was at C-ville Beach the last part '68 and most of '69... had a Chief back then that broke my balls everyday... by the name of Rooney. He was from the Boston area also, so he said he couldn't show me any favortism.... I told then please just treat me normal.It was a great time and a great place to get away from the everyday world... going out to Cape Town and Petrolia.... Mike CuddyLakeland, Fl.
