  • Mike Nigro,

Speaking of great recruit stories, I remember the story of the grandson of Slim Pickens, the actor. I can't remember his name because he was only in recruit training for 27 days or so.  I still remember the day, they released him to go home, he was sobbing because he wanted to complete the training. You see he was released because he told us he was kicked in the testicles by a horse and

lost one. He had falsified his paper work or something to that effect.  That's the story he gave us and I'm sticking to it.

  • Yes Jerry..I worked in the Recruit Affairs Office about three doors down from the Captain's Office. My boss was LT Ben Domurat. We were responsible for processing all recruit awards, responding to all command correspondence involving recruits, and coordinating the weekly recruit graduation parade at Preble Field. I served under three CO's: CAPT Cameron, CAPT Bivins and CAPT Mordhorst (I believe was the name). CAPT Bivins reenlisted me for my first time in July 1973. It was a great tour with the fondest of memories. Boy can I tell you some great recruit stories!
  • Mike you worked next to Capt French's Office or Bivin's I remember Commander McGuiness

  • You know I don't remember that. That's a First for me. I have my book right here in front of me and I remember him well but not that

    SMALL WORLD

  • CO 215 - 1993 last to pass.

  • CO 807 - 1974 - CC BMC Carter. I was on the RTC Staff from 1972 to 1976. As a young Yeoman I worked in the R-4 Bldg on the second deck next to the CO's Office. If I recall correctly, BMC Carter was known as "Choker Carter." I don't recall how he inherited the name but he had quite a reputation.
