  • That is typical for this admin, but here in Hawaii, our Gov never showed up for the ceremonies. He doesn't partake in any military ceremonies.  Hasn't been in Hawaii much since he was elected.  Traveled to Japan and all over for getting commerce in our state.  yea right. For those that paid the ultimate, May they rest in peace and God Bless.  God bless all our servicemen and women, And God Bless America.

  • $16 per gallon???? Are they nuts! We have a guy up here in NY that brews 55 gals at a time at a cost of 50 cents a gallon!!! Must have been a subsidiary of Solyndra!

Those khaki's for the enlisted is also nuts! They look like an identity crisis with those black pants. If anything they should have been all Navy blue!

We just got a large shipment of the Chambray shirts from surplus for the vet crews. Those should have been kept as the working uniform! But, that's OK! They will still be the uniform of choice on board the museum ships!

  • The new Camo uniforms came in about 2008 along with the Kaki Shirt and black pants. I work for the Navy here in San Diego and for the most part the sailors do not like the new Camo. They can only wear a certain boot and those are bulky. For the most part, when the sailors do an IA (Iraqi Augmentation) or an AA (Afghanistan Augmentation) they are issued the desert camo.

  • I scuba dive, I doubt the sharks care, cept when you wear the rubber suit.  They hate that, just like the soft insides...

  • Yep Jim! They did away with the chambray shirt and the dungarees! There goes another tradition! They mostly put Seafarer out of business. They would up closing 80% of their operation and now the NWU is being made by Federal prisoners! That must be what Obama was counting as "jobs created"!

Maybe those blue camos make it hard to be seen by sharks!!!

  • They changed to fatigues in or around 2004 or their about I do not know what they were thinking but it was to confuse Submarine and or Ships to make people look like dots. If any one knows why please key in Thank You.

  • Gotta agree with Jim on this, I wore fatiques, (now camo's), green for the jungle.  Can not imagine going into the desert or the jungle in Navy Camo's.  Did they replace the Dungerees?

  • Joel, I am so glad I made it through before they tried that uniform fubar! Thankfully they got their minds back and returned to the proper ones! Now, they have lost their minds again with these new camos! Just what in the Sam Hill are they trying to camouflage sailors from?

  • Thank you Jim,

I live about 2 hours north and I'm planning on going back in the next few months.  I'd be delighted to help, I'll check in a week or two before I go back.
