  • I came aboard in Feb 71' after C-School when she was still in dry docks. Was in V4 Fuels division. If anyone remembers bringing a 7000 gal fuel truck aboard when we started sea trials it was me who drove it in and operated it till we got our fuels system up and running. Had just came from Cubi Point and was the only one aboard that had a license to drive and operate it. Man, was that sweet duty baby setting this gig. Didn't have to do squat. After deployment to the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club There were a few exciting times on deck. Would love to hear from shipmates.

  • I was stationed aboard the Conny from 1973 to 1976.  The first 2 yrs was in 1 main machinery room as a BT. The last year I spent in the Oil Lab.  Also spent a short time in the BR Shop
  • Served 1978-1982 in Deck Dept, 1st Div.
  • My tour on board was from February of 85 to February of 87, worked in S-6 up in the Tunnel.  it was a good tour.  John K. Prall AKC
  • I'm a plank owner on the Connie, and rode her around the horn to San Diego in 1962.  I was one of 5 AG"A" school graduates who had the same orders out of school ... "USS Randolph (CVS-15) FFT to USS Constellation (CVA-64) for on board commissioning as directed."  Was transferred off the Connie shortly after swapping coasts, but will always remember the South American trip, crossing the equator, and all my shipmates in the OA/OM Division.
  • I served on the Connie from 1st. week of June 1968 until 30 Sept. 1971. I was in OI Division and a radarman my first Westpac cruise and in Electronic Warfare until my seperation. I have to be very honest and admit I didn't really enjoy my time on a bird farm. But I did like the immediate people I worked with. I would like to hear from Michael Saint Marie and Steven Rodriguez if they read this. All of us are old men now. I'm medically retired now and have nothing but time on my hands now! So communicate.......
  • Served on the Connie from October 1969 until Jan 3, 1973 . All my Westpacs were on the Connie and did a 9 mo. stint aboard here in dry Dock in Bremerton Wash. 1970-71. First duty station after RM A school and my last active duty station when I separated from active duty in 1973
  • I served on the connie from 90 to 92 while she was in the yards at Philly. Oooooooo, the memories of living on that barge in the conex's.

my service on the "Connie"

I recall working the flight deck of the old Gal, and seeing the waves of jets returning from their missions both during the day and night time ops. The most nostalgic memory is of the A-1 skyraiders (spads) that were onboard for the 1966 deployment to the Tonkin. They would return with bullet holes in the wings and the sounds of the powerful 12 cylinder prop along with the backfire through the exhaust and the accompanying spitfire during the night ops. They were later transferred to the RVAF!I…
